Ut. Abdul Karim Khan (1872 -1937)

He is the founder of Kirana Gharana. Well known vocal exponents of the Kirana gharana include Sawai Gandharva, Sureshbabu Mane, and Kesarbai Kerkar, Bhimsen Joshi, were inspired by the soothing tones, pathos and lilting vocal resonances of the genius.

Pt. Ganpatrao Gurav (1897-1984)

Pt Ganpatrao Gurav was a court musician at Jamkhandi Aasthan. Ganpatrao was a direct descendent of Abdul Karim Khan. He learnt Classical music in Saraswati Sangeet Mahavidyalaya which was founded by Abdul Karim Khan and was also batchmate of Pt Savai Gandharva.

Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav (1931-2014)

He is wellknown for his pure kirana Gayaki and perfect presentation of raaga and swara. He was a teacher in the music department of Karnatak University where he worked alongside Mallikarjun Mansur, Basavraj Rajguru, and Gangubai Hangal. He received the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi award, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and many more.

Pt. kaivalyakumar Gurav

By the age of 5, he had started systematic training in classical singing from his father Sangmeshwar Gurav. He is a Gold Medallist of M.A. Music from Karnatak University. He has several albums to his credit. He is the youngest Hindustani Classical vocalist to get a top grade by ‘All India Radio’. He received many Awards and performed all over the world.

Dr. Vijaykumar Patil

Dr. Vijaykumar Patil has been trained in the traditional gurukul system by late Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav and Pt.Kaivalyakumar Gurav, both stalwarts of the Kirana gharana and drew much inspiration from the styles of renowned maestros, Pt. Ganapat Rao Gurav and Ustad Abdul Karim Khan.
